2013 - Weeks 23 - 24 Photo 'n Prayer Review

WEEK 23

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.
Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)
Girl's Bible study recently focused on Biblical friendship through a crazy-fun relay race. Two girls were required to choose three articles of clothing from a pile of cloths. Upon returning to their group they had to get dressed, but had to depend on their group to dress them! It was hilarious (and a great illustration)>

PRAY for their spiritual growth and Ilsy's leadership.

Karen and Eyda race for the clothes pile.

Ilsy helps the girls "get dressed".

The little girls class watches the relay race!

Carlos joins us for youth group Bible study for the first time:
Our prayer is that the trade school students will desire more in their walk with the Lord
and join us for the weekly Bible study.

Chelsey teaches the students in the artisan craft class a new way to make beads out of paper.
1st - shred and soak paper

2nd - squeeze the water out of the paper

3rd - add white glue and...

3.5 - ... mix by hand!

The students had a great time learning this new craft. The paper/glue mixture is then rolled into balls and left to dry. Once dry the balls are sanded down, painted and used in jewelry. Now you know "junk mail" has a purpose!

PRAY for these students to find their creativity, learn a good work ethic and know Jesus more every time we meet!

WEEK 24

Lu continues to plug away with Naomi and Tabitha's education every morning!

Every animal has a function at the Ranch, but now I can add to the list:
poisonous-snake killing cats!

Naomi waits for me during our daddy-daughter date.
No, we didn't go visiting the local jail. LOL!

Our chicken tractor allows us to raise new chicks separate from the flock
and protected from local predators like hawks and bobcats.

Ana Melissa designs a paper bead bracelet.
Jon has been meeting with Ana Melissa and her boyfriend, Josue, for a weekly Bible study through the book of 1 John. It has been awesome to go into their home and watch God's Word bring conviction and correction.

PRAY that they will follow through and get married.
Their goal is to accomplish this in 2013.
Her parent's separation years ago has created some fears in Melissa.

Tobi decided to apply his own treatment of his sister's hair detangler.

The Prayer Face Off:
In a "Family Feud"-like game, the boys were asked to recite a prayer according to its kind -
adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication (A.C.T.S)

It is always a challenge to maintain the interest of the boys to attend our weekly Bible study. Partly due to a "machismo" culture that models male independence from God and, well, they're young boys. (I, Jon, wasn't very interested in my spiritual life during my early teens, either.)

PRAY for these boy's hearts to have a desire to know God and for wisdom for Oscar and Jon as we seek to counsel and model Christ in their lives.

Oscar and the boys study through Biblical examples of prayer.

Tobi's grandpa, "Papi", bonds with his grandson in our raised-bed garden.
Wayne & Brooke Goranson are State-side staff for Rancho Oasis that visit multiple times a year to assist with short-term teams and projects at the Ranch. They are currently pioneering a year-long missionary discipleship program called GAP.

Jon & Mare celebrate ten years of marriage on June 21, 2013.
PRAY for us as parents and husband & wife!
(Thanks Goransons for watching the kids!)

A typical sky during our raining season.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life
and power that comes from God.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)
